What is FTP anyway? How do I retrieve my files using secure FTP?

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a network protocol used to transfer data from one machine to another. It is ideal for transferring files from the seedbox to your pc and especially useful for large files as you can stop the download and come back to it days later.

We recommend Filezilla. You can download it free here:

http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client

Now that you have the FTP client you are ready to make a secure connection and begin downloading your files.

  1. Open up Filezilla and go to file > site manager
  2. Click the 'new site' button and call it torrentswift or whatever your desired name is
  3. In the host box, type the domain you received in the welcome email. There is no need for http:// or ftp:// etc just username.domain.com will do
  4. Now you need to specify the server type in the drop down menu. Use 'FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS / SSL'
  5. In the 'logon type' box, select normal if you are using a private computer and you want Filezilla to remember your password. Otherwise select ask for password
  6. Type in your username and password. It's the same as the web interface and if it changes in the web interface it will change here.
  7. You are now ready to hit connect!
